Marc Bridge-Wilkinson has shared the collective feeling of pride for Academy staff after seeing Luke Chambers make his first senior start and two further debutants in Liverpool's 5-1 win over Toulouse in the Europa League.

Trent Alexander-Arnold captained the side on Thursday night, Caoimhin Kelleher and Curtis Jones started, and Jarell Quansah came on as a substitute.

And with Jürgen Klopp also handing debuts off the bench to Calum Scanlon and James McConnell, it meant seven Kirkby graduates featured at Anfield overall.

Bridge-Wilkinson told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a another great night for the Academy players and staff.

"This is just the start of their journey and they know that, but we have a manager who gives youth a chance if they are good enough and continue to work hard and improve.

"For Chambo to be given a start for Liverpool in a European game at Anfield is such a special moment for him and his family.

"To see Calum and Macca make their debuts after being on the bench for the derby on Saturday was brilliant, as a year ago they were both in the U18s team. It's special for them."
