Dejan Lovren stayed behind as the Liverpool squad flew to Spain for their warm weather training camp.

The Croatian defender has missed the past two matches with a knee injury and the decision was taken for him to remain at Melwood to undergo treatment.

Lovren is the only notable absentee with manager Jurgen Klopp including a number of Academy youngsters in his 25-man squad.

As expected the quartet of Danny Ings, Ovie Ejaria, Marko Grujic and Adam Bogdan didn't travel as they continue their rehabilitation.

Ings and Bogdan suffered season-ending knee injuries, while Ejaria ruptured his syndesmosis – the point just above the ankle where the tibia and the fibula bones meet – in last month's FA Cup defeat to Wolves.

Grujic hasn't featured since November. The young Serbian midfielder was on the bring of a comeback after an issue with his hamstring tendon when he suffered a setback in training.

Liverpool will arrive at La Manga Club in south east Spain on Wednesday evening. It will be their base for four nights.

They fly home to Merseyside on Sunday.
